In my youth, I surfed a bunch. I think I averaged 300 days a year in the water. It was just what I did, I was a skater/surfer/motocrosser kinda guy for a lot of years. Anyway, one day I ran across a photo of a nasty wave when googling for wave photos a few years back. The photo came from the Tim McKenna site. Between the photos and the writings, I was in awe of this wave.
The place is Teahupoo (pronounced Chopu), Tahiti, the place Pipeline riders train for. I haven't been there but I hear there's a sign near by with a running death toll on it.
